Default system slowdown/error loading plugins

New here to the forum. Recently my laptop jumped off my desk with an assist from my dog. Now initially everything appeared to be ok but now I am experiencing several issues.
1. When restarting loadtime during the startup sequence is excessive, somewhere around 10 to 15 minutes.
2. Once I finally get in I receive an ATL.DLL application error and I am then a request to reload the affected application.
3. I also receive an Error loading plugins application will exit msg.
4. All of my programs either run, actually walk is more like it, exceedingly slow or else they lock-up.

So at this time I have limited access to the software on my pc and no access to wireless at this time. I am running windows xp on a toshiba tecra M3.

thanks for the help.

Hello r@tfink,

Welcome to PCHF.

Sound like you may have damaged the HDD when it dropped on the floor, especially if the HDD was active at the time? HDD's are very sensative.

- Go to My Computer, right click on Local Disk (c) and go to Properties.
- Click the Tools tab.
- Under "Error Checking", click Check Now.
- Tick both check box's and click on Start.

This could take a few hours to complete.
