Unhappy upgraded from 2.4 478 pin P4 to 3.4 478 pin P4 and now PC won't boot!

Hi,
I just upgraded my CPU from a 2.4ghz skt 478 Pentium 4 to a sl7PP 3.4ghz skt 478 Pentium 4 1mb L2 with 800mhz FSB.
My mother is an Intel D875Bzlk that supports 533/800mhz FSB CPUs up to the 3.46 extreme.
Now my computer won't boot up. No lights come on. I can hear the fan running though. I am very familiar with installing CPUs and I am sure that I did it correctly. I thoght maybe I should but up in bios config mode so I set the jumpers and still no boot?
What to do? This is a brand new out of the box CPU.
Help please.
Thanks.
Shadow Assassin

system specs:
3.4 GHZ SL7PP Prescott 1MB L2 skt 478 Pentium 4
1024mb of system ram
40 GB Hard drive(I know it's tiny)
Nvidia GeForce 6200 256 MB Video Card
Windows XP Professional SP2

Hello Shadow

Welcome to PC Help Forums

A member of our Technical Team will be with you shortly.

As an aside can I ask if you have registered twice under the, more or less, same nickname?

Have you booted it up with the previous CPU? I ask because you mentioned it was a brand new system, so perhaps it wasn't the processor at all that caused it not to boot. Try it with the old processor, and let us know the results.

Hi,
Yes, I have switched back to the older 2.4ghz I had in it and no problems.
Do you know if the board I have can support the 3.4ghz 800mhz FSB? To the best of my knowledge it is the latest and most updated version of the 478 pin CPU based Intel boards. I updated the bios sucessfully but still no luck.
I have returned the 3.4 to the seller as I believe it to be defunct.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Shadow

To my knowledge I've never seen a board with a 478 that supported an 800 fsb, though that doesn't make it impossible. I would check on the motherboard's website for a list of compatible processors, they more nearly always have a list of them.
