Default Constantly running 100%

Just in the past few hours, my processor ahs been running CONSTATNLY at 100%. Makeing the whole thing run extremely slowly. The thing it says it taking all this power is svchost.exe what is this and why is is making my computer run so slow?

svchost.exe can be a windows process or a trojan.

I think you just answered your own question, and confirmed GaRHaR`s diagnosis. I have Zone Alarm, and Spybot. You can configure Zone Alarm to give you a warning when someone tries to access your computer, or get in thru an open port. Of course it stops them, but you would be amazed at how fast they start hitting you once you connect to the net. Its within seconds sometimes. Sounds like you may have caught one.

i am downloading McAfee stuff right now, and SP2 so i have a firewall on windows in addition to the one on teh wireless router. Will that help?

ok. it is running vures detector now. i fel a lot better now that i have security.. albeit for 90days then ill try Norton dowload.
