Default [Answered] Celeron vs Pentium?

I am looking at the system requirements for a piece of software. For processor it says: "Pentium III 450 MHz or AMD Duron 600 MHz". I have a CELERON 2.6 GHz. Can I still run this software on my PC?

Thanks for your help Arctos. Why don't they list Celeron in the requirements?

I would not a have a clue, normally software is marked up for use on a Pentium cpu.

If the software you want to use has a a bit of age about it, and you want to run it on Win XP, you may have to run it in compatibilty mode.

Well willybobo, the Intel Celeron, and AMD Sempron processors are designed for desktop use. The Pentium, and Athlon series are the powerful processors, designed for heavier tasks. Games are created to run on more powerful processors, but in this case you're Celeron will do the job too.

When you're comparing a Pentium 2Ghz with a Celeron 2Ghz for example, the Pentium is, though the clock speeds are equal, way more powerful.

Marked as Answered.
