Default Post , boot problem

I just received a batch of 15 free pc's from a local company. They are pretty good spec, some around 2.2ghz and the lowest 800mhz. I have swapped cases with one of them, the best cas had a poor syetm and a rubbish case had a good system , so i swapped them like i jhave done before. Last time was successful but this one powers up, post says the processor intel 1.7ghz and then it doesnt do anything, i cant access bios as the keyboard cant do anything, tried many keyboards.

Which component is likely at fault? , tried d/c hdd floppy and dvd , could it be graphics card? There isnt onboard graphics but i could possibly find a spare one and try that. what do you think?

Hi 01042,

Welcome to the PCHF!
I think that from what you are describing there might be a few problems to look at.
Firstly, did you also swap the power supply? The PSU from the old pc might not be able to run the newer system properly.
Secondly, try a USB Keyboard and mouse as the PS2 port might be faulty.
Thirdly, try getting the system up and running with only what you really need i.e. Floppy, cdrom, hard drive, vga card. Ideally test the hardware that you can on another working pc to make sure it's ok.
Fourth, Make sure that everything is firmly in place on the board, memory is a classic.
Let us know how you do
