Hi mike PJBell.

Welcome to PCHF!

Sometimes my 3000+ Athlon only registers as a 1300+.

I just go into my BIOS and then Save and Exit. This usually happens (to me) after some sort of start failure in the POST, usually after messing with my multipliers...

Give that a try and see if that works.

To get into your BIOS you usually have to press ESC. DEL. CTRL+ALT+DEL or F2...mort boards will tell you on startup to "PRESS [Key name] FOR SETUP" or something to hat effect.

Ok cool, but what exactly do I have to do once i'm in the BIOS? And are you sure this is something that can be fixed in BIOS, do I not have to mess around with jumpers?

Thanks for all your help so far, I really do appreciate all the help you've given.

What double_a_ron is saying that for him just entering the bios , do nothing , and then press save and exit fixes it for him.

You could also try to select "load defaults" or something similair in youre bios and then saving and exiting. Or you could also remove the motherboards battery (with the powercord unplugged) for a minute or so , place it back and booting up againg to reset the cmos that way.

If that doesn't work we'll start looking at jumper settings.

PS, is the pc new , or has it run "full speed" before?

Oh I forgot to mention. The computer used to use an nforce motherboard, which ran the cpu at full speed. That motherboard fried so I had to get a cheap and cheerfull AS Rock motherboard.
After installing the new motherboard, the speed of the CPU was limited.

Looks like this motherboard should be able to run this cpu without problems.

Have you tried the bios options?

Not much to say though , in youre bios just press right a couple of times to get to the "exit" tap. There you can select to "save and exit" immediatly , or press "load defaults" first.

Also if we need it later on , here is a link to a pdf with fsb jumper settings for youre motherboard:
