Hi Watcher,
Welcome to PCHF!
Though it's very likely you won't have any problems with the
CPU you ordered, you should probably look up some info on the motherboard you have. If you can find the company who made it's name you should also be able to find the model number and you should from there be able to easily find out what the maximum supported
CPU clock speed is.
Those AMD Chips sound like early Athlons...not bad CPUs either unless you're bent on running new games. They are probably Socket A. If the above is true on both accounts, you should be fine with an Asus A7N8X-Deluxe (yay it took me a year to remember that model number...it's my curent board lol). It supports down to a 1GHz (I'm presuming that's what you meant by 1.3MHz as Intels earliest chips in 1978 ran at around 4.4 MHz) and you will have plenty of room for expansion (up to the 3200+ Athlon). Also keep in mind that AMDs Chip Naming convention no longer revolves around clock speed but around Terraflops (that's Terra=Trillion
Floating Point
Operations per
Second). However the nomenclature gives a good indication of which Intel chip it's most comparable to.
IE: 3000+ Athlon is equivalent to the 3GHz Pentium 4.
3200+ Athlon " " " " 3.2 GHz "
Hope this was useful info to ya.
