Exclamation Simple question....

My friends PC was very slow and i had a spare tower which has better components. It included motherboard, processor, modem..etc I added to it his cd drive, floppy drive and hard drive. I checked all connections and they seem to be fine but when i boot the machine it gives the following message..

Verifying DMI Pool Data
Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM:Failure
Disck Boot Failure, insert system Disk + press enter

Can anyone shed any light on this subject? Thanks

Hi and welcome to PCHF gigihrbs05!
It means there is no Operating System found on any disk in the computer.
Could that be right?

Hey Gigi,

You need to reinstall the OS, whenever you rebuild a PC this way, it is important to reinstall. I would take the time to repartion and reformat as well. If he has files that he needs, you will do better to reinstall the HD and the CD on his old PC, then backup his files onto a CD.

Reinstall the HD and CD back to the new system, and repartition, reformat and reinstall the OS.

Let us know how it goes,

TTFN

Hi, you should also make sure that the hard drive is the first boot device in the bios...just to see if this is the problem. Need help with that, ask It looks like your PC is looking at the Cd first, not finding an OS on there and falling over....
