Default Need Help... Problems with computer beeping.

Ok so... I'm not very technical so I'll explain this the best way I know how. My computer randomly restarts itself and upon attempting to restart my computer keeps beeping. I don't get any picture or anything. What's wrong with it. Also sometimes when my computer restarts itself it seems to lose the hard drive. It can't detect it. Can someone help?

Hi there and welcome to PCHF!

You may have a bad hard drive or damaged XP instalation. Have you tried doing a repair of the OS or scanning the HD for spyware/viruses?

Hello and welcome to PCHF.

Sounds like the power supply is going out. Can you describe the pattern of beeps, such as 1-2-4-1? And the length of the beeps, such as long or short? Whether the beeps are measured by length or number in a row depends on your BIOS, so post back with info about the beeps and it should let us know exactly what's wrong.

Hello and welcome to PCHF VelvetGoldmine.

To me it sounds like it could be a heat issue. Could you check all the fans in your system and make sure they are all working.
Also check the fan in the back of your power supply to make sure its working.

You could also download a temperature monitor program:
