Default [Resolved] Upgrading from PIII to Celeron - download needed??

I recently purchased a used Celeron PCU (1.3ghz), to boost my comp from a PIII500mzh. I popped the thing into my comp, but alas - no workie.

I'm wondering if it's an issue of compatability; is my motherboard not compatable? Do I need to download BIOS or something, in order to have my motherboard work with the celeron?

I'm also using a slotket converter (converting the slot 370 celeron into myslot 1 motherboard). The whole thing might just be an issue with this piece, as I've read that they can be unreliable...

Anyone have any suggestions (other than just re-building from scratch, which I should be doing in the first place!)??

Thanks,

El.

Could be the converter your motherboard does not like. I would say take it apart and pt it back in just to make sure you didnt accidently put it in wrong

Bought it used (stupidly didn't check my pc first; just assumed it was socket 370, since it was a PIII)...

I've tried a couple times to get it to work, but when I power up, my screen stays blank.

Guess I'll see if I can sell the chip withought losing much cash; it wasn't too expensive at any rate.

Rock on,

El.
