My computer just recently but for no apparent reason (no new driver or software or hardware installed) stopped fully restarting when I would ask it to. The compter shuts down ok if I choose that, but if I need to restart it, or a program needs to restart it, it will go to shut down, then just sit there with the fans going and the lights on until I manually hold the power button to shut it down, then turn it back on. Im running windows xp on an amd64 3400+ with 1 gig ram, I have latest drivers for graphics, sound, keyboard, mouse, mother board you name it. any help would be appreciated.

Easy thing to do is reset the cmos... Open up the case(unplug power) take out the battery.... Leave it out for a good 30 seconds.. and put it back in.. you will have to reset the time thats about it. Somthing is causing it in your bios.
