Yowzer... that is expensive! It's the right idea, though.

I ended up finding a few converter-type things, but alot of them look sketchy. www.powerleap.ca has some that look? alright, but I'm not sure about all the compatability issues that seem to plague these things... looks like you're rolling the dice if you decide to go with a converter. I think I might try to find a used one for cheap, so it won't be a waste if it don't woik.
