If it does come down to you re installing your operating system JMax, what you need to do is first go into the BIOS and check the boot configuration.? The CD ROM must be set to boot first.? Once you have done this insert your Windows XP CD and restart the PC, When you get to the introductary setup screen try a repair install to see if that works.? If not then i think you will have to do a reformat and start again.

Yeah Exactly! Why did'nt I think of that! I'll do just that!
I did remember that there was an option saying reinstall windows operating system . maybe that might help. My only keen work now is to transfer all my important files and documents, Once that's done. I'll do a full format. Feels better that way i guess.

Guys, i'll get back to you'll on this asap. Thanks .

Ladies & Gents! Thanks to Madgamer tips the problem has been solved.

Man.. i could'nt believe my eyes and ears as i blast one of my mp3's with winamp. It's been close to 10mins now & Everything seems to be working fine after a repair work with windows Xp cd.

The ctrl+alt+del windows task manager seems fine now with no glitches what so ever. But still, i feel i have to get a clean format one of these days.

Guys, could you recommend me what should i install after a fresh format?

I only have Norton Antivirus and Security 2003, Ad-aware & Spybot S&D & Registry Mechanic.
Are these sufficent? Or shall i kick Norton Antivirus and Security 2003 and install some better free softwares from the net? any recommendations?

For me. . so far. . these 4 softewares seems to keep my cpu quite safe. Provided my relentless efforts to update them and use them every now & then. But i was pretty shocked when Zimbo introduced AVG to me and it found a trojan which none of mine could. .

Nevertheless, I'd really like to thank all of you who have helped me out. I really appreciate it.
And hope this kind of community help will exist thruout. All of you have been a big help indeed!

My many thanks & warmest regards to you'll.

P.s. Zimbo if your half way done with the guide then plz send it to me. I can always use that extra info man. Thank U for that.

That's really great to hear - well done to Madgamer and Zimbo (tech points have been awarded )

JMax, thanks for the compliments - the best thing you can do for us is to recommend this site whenever and where ever, thanks.
