I am about to purchase an amd 64 3200. I was wondering if any of you guys can recommend going for one of the older 1024k cache processors, or one of the new 512k processors.

I know the newer 3200's are 2.2g; does this make up for the reduction in cache?

If you are upgrading it's probably best to go for the newer architecture. I don't know whether the processor speed will compensate for the lack of L2 cache but it will give you a fraction more "future proofing".

Darn, I really wish I could get one of those shiny new AMD64 chips - they are king when it comes to gaming.
