A student of mine has just installed a new Canon Pixma MP540 printer. Whenever he tries to print to it, he gets the following error message:

An exception occurred while trying to run "C:\WINDOWS\System32\Spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\cnmsm9E. dll,StatusMonitorEntryPoint USB002;Canon MP540 Series Printer;C:\WINDOWS\System3\Spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\CN MCP9E.dll;3"

A second window opens up, titled "Run a DLL as an App" and containing the following error message:

Run DLL as an App has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sory for the inconvenience.


The printer does go on to print the document; it just shows up these error messages when it does.

I've scanned with CCleaner (both HDD and registry cleans), MBAM, Spybot and Regseeker. Nothing came up on the malware scans. A HJT log is included below (attachment failed - any idea why?).
