Solved: HP 6310 all in one won't print

I have an HP office jet 6310 all in one. connected to a Vista Premium and an XP home edition through a roter.

Last week MadMonkey and I went through everything to get the Vista computer to talk with the Xp so that I could transfer files and pictures from the Vista to the Xp in order for me to re-format the Vista Comp.

Now that eveything si done I went to print up some instructions on something I was working on today and when I clicked on "Print" nothing happened, no error messages or anything.

I pulled both computers out, checked all cables from each of the computers to the router and from the printer to the Vista computer. (This is the way it has been set up for a couple of years).

I don't know what I am doing but I did go to the sharing page and it showed that was connected. So what do I do and please you MUST give me detail instructions as I do not know what I am doing with computers other than typing and doing some graphic's and animations.

I told Mad Monkey I would be back,, just didn't think it would be this soon,, lol

Thats correct, neither computer and I re-check all of the cables to be sure they were secure.

also how do I subscribe to this thread as it don't show up on my User CP

Apologies for keeping you waiting, Homeinspec.

You've formatted the machine that the printer physically connects to, yes? The share has changed because of the format. A simple recreate on the Vista (connected PC) and then readding the Shared Printer on the XP should resolve this for you.

I am not really sure what your talking about but, yes I re-formatted the Vista computer which is the one the printer is connected to and the other computer is an XP home edition ,, both computers are connected to a router, from this point on I do not know how to set anything up so if you can give me a step by step instrtuction I would greatly appreciate it.

Not a problem.

Let me make sure that I'm not missing anything. The Vista computer (the connected one) IS able to print, correct? You recreated the Printer Share on the Vista computer, right?

I'll back back with instruction on how to Reshare to the XP machine.
