I am currently try to get two computers to share a printer. the printer is not networked, one uses the ltp1 and the other the usb. However can I get them to both use the printer without creating a network. Any help , cheers

Hello meadows, welcome to PCHF.

A little confused, is it not working with two PC's connected (one via LPT and one via USB)???

What is the make and model of the printer, and are the two PC's connected via a network at the moment?

like yoiu said they are both connected one via lpt and one usb. the computers are networked but due to network limits the printer is not.i.e no available network ports. cheers

Well, the two best ways of connecting the printer is either

a) connected the way you have it at the moment via LPT and USB
b) connecting the printer to the network

It is possible to connect the printer to just one PC and share it. It is not very reliable, and that PC will need to be switched on and in Windows for the other PC to print. The instructions for which can be found here: Share Your Printer Over a Home Network Using Windows XP

But by connecting it to two pc's will that cause a problem as on the computer connected via lpt is does not print. I did not know if the usb connection to the other computer would stop it. Overide it like a scart signal on tv's?

Ahhh, now your asking the right questions. Most printers will allow both connections, but you still haven't told me the make and model of the printer?
