Default [Answered] Epson 2400 drivers. All report "uncertified"

Hi folks
first post here.
I have a bog-standard XP Pro /sp2 pc. I use an Epson 2400 photo printer which has never given me any problems (apart from cost!) Yesterday I tried to install updated drivers. To cut to the chase, even the supposedly "certified" driver (2005!) on Epson's site reported as uncertified when I tried to install it. I tried two out of three drivers available - same result.

No driver installer would allow me to abort the installation (boingggsss and continues). I used CCleaner to uninstall the driver (oddly it didn't look as though it had - the driver was still present in the uninstall dialog). I then reinstalled the original driver using the supplied disks (there are two - one yellow, one white with no indication of what the difference is!) Same problem!

Any ideas what this is about?
Whilst I'm about it, the PDF manual supplied with this printer is a joke, omitting reference to many features in the software.

Hello skridlov, welcome to PCHF.

Your getting a message that the driver not digitally signed right?

As long as your using a Windows XP version then this message is perfectly OK. Let me describe a little bit about digital signatures. All these are, are drivers that have been passed to Microsoft for their testing and approval. Many companies decide not to pass their drivers to Microsoft and release their drivers immediately. If you were a 3rd party company that wanted to release your drivers immediately, would you wait months or more for Microsoft to test them first? No, who do Microsoft think they are, if there's a problem or update for your drivers, you'll want to release it immediately. Most companies think the same way.

EDIT: Marked as Answered.
