Default Syanptics Touchpad Going Nuts!

I'm using a Synaptics Touchpad driver on my HP Pavillion DV6670ej.
Everything was fine and dandy until today early morning... Using the touchpad became a problem. It suddenly doesn't respond properly to my fingers... It's going insane. Regular dragging suddenly becomes scrolling, and moving horizontally will sometimes fail to work. Then the touchpad will work properly again for a few seconds before it gets crazy again.

Things I've tried
  • Resetting the touchpad
  • Reinstalling touchpad driver (rolling back then rolling forward, both versions didn't work)
  • Rebooting
  • Changing sensitivity and PalmCheck options to see if it changes anything
  • Trying to find Synaptics updates in the Windows Update update list to see if I can find any more rolling back
None of these seem to work yet.. I plugged in a USB mouse to try make it work, but I'm not trying to avoid the problem, I'm trying to fix it. I'm hoping the damage isn't physical and that I can manage to fix it myself without having to pay a ****load of cash to get it working again...
Please, if you can help, help D: I'd really appreciate it.

Hello Dokueki, Welcome back to the forum!

When you plugged in the USB mouse did the pointer respond normally?

I have marked this as open so someone more suited to you problem will see it

Regards,

Hello Dokueki!

Synaptics suggests uninstalling the original driver Prior to installing the latest version. Is that how you tried the driver update that you performed?

My cursor is behaving erraticly.

There are two possible solutions to this problem:
  1. If your TouchPad is dirty, use a small amount of ammonia-based window cleaner on a clean cloth and gently wipe the surface of the TouchPad to remove any dirt or grime. Having a clean TouchPad surface usually eliminates erratic pointer movement.
  2. The TouchPad driver may need to be updated. Download the appropriate Synaptics driver from the manufacturer's support site. Uninstall the driver that is not working and then install the downloaded driver.

Uninstalled, installed, then rebooted... I've been using the touchpad 5 mins without anything happening yet, and usually it would've messed up by now. I think it works, thanks!
