Cool 2002 Intellimouse explorer buttons dont XP

Problems with Intellimouse explorer 2003 in windows xp

In the year of 2002, a friend of mine bought me without consent 3 mice of the model Microsoft intellimouse explorer, there was the times of win me and win 2k, so XP did not exist yet (for most of people)

The mice are sturdy and big and I still use them in the company, but since XP the software utility to control the extra buttons have been a fuzz, I have proved it on intel and amd platforms, intel boards, msi boards, and no results,
the buttons make nothing more than the default actions. (scroll, page down, page up)

I thought it could be the usb port on my desktop, but the same happens in many platforms including computers.

Know that fast solution would be to buy 3 new and modern multi button mice and install them flawlessly, but then I would be no more a geek!

I’ve tried with versions 4.2 and 5.0 without succsess, any help we be welcome

Hey TheApp,

Welcome to PCHF. Where you will find a whole host of people who like to solve problems as much as you do.

The problem with mice, is that because they are so inexpensive, and there are so many upgrades, most companies don't bother creating upgrades for the software.

However, I am going to turn you over to the hardware gurus of the site, to see if anyone has any additional ideas for you to try.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Hello APPrentice,

Do you still require assistance with your issue or have you sorted it out? A status update would be appreciated. Thanks!
