Hi janey this light green cable is possibly sound?Or it possibly connects to VGA connector that plugs into back of computer the one on end of cable?

Have you tried the monitor in a diffrent computer?

I had a HP 15 inch flat screen and I got no signal so I foned the guy who I bought it off and he said the thin blue cable plugged into VGA cable connector that plugs into back of PC.I had a look and there was a small port on the VGA cable connector so plugged in got signal.I had never heard of this before.

It makes sence to me however if there is not a port on the connection then it is for sound and plugs into your sound card at back of pc.

I would open up the computer give it a good clean and check graphics card is seated correctly unless it is onboard.Or try the link.Try monitor on another computer.Try another cable.

What colour is the light on the monitor?

Try pressing fn +f8 twice

Make sure RAM etc is seated correctly to as this pc has been moved around.

Any beeps on startup?

Or try this:HP and Compaq Flat Panel Monitors -  Flat Panel Monitor Displays Message about No Signal, Signal out of Range, Sleep, or Power Save
