Default Can not Enable/Disable CD/DVD In Bios

Hi I have an EasyNote Packard Bell Laptop 512 RAM 40 Gig Hard Drive. Just recently my CD/DVD stopped working for some strange reason. When I inputted any CD in the drive the light was still coming on but nothing getting picked up.

I then went on BIOS pressing F2. Here I noticed that the CD/DVD had been “Disbaled”. What caused this to happen I don’t have a clue.

I tried to search for an option for me to “enable” this but was unable to do so.

My BOIS read the following. INSYDE SOFTWARE SCU. Then have 4 option

Start Up / Chipset / Boot / Exit. Even though I try to click on to any option there is no way to Enable this.

The other option I have is F8, But this is the option from “Boot from CD”.

Please help.

Ok try this?Go into device manager and right click on your CD/DVD drive list and choose scan for hardware changes.

Or disconnect CD/DVD rom and reboot pc.Then turn pc off reconnect CD/DVD rom and reboot.

Hi,go to device manager and at top it says computer right click on it and use scan for hard ware changes.See if it brings up the CD/DVD drives.

Look at the BIOS menu and you should see an option marked 'Advanced BIOS Features.' Use the up and down arrow keys and highlight this option then press Enter. In there click on the CD drive and enable it?

Could you open up the computer and check the cables have not become loose or unplugged?

Is SCSI in BIOS enabled/disabled?

Is this an IDE or SATA CD/DVD rom drive?

Does the drive show in BIOS?

Hi thanks for the reply.

I have gone to device manager and went on "computer" and did "scan for hardware changes". Nothing happend here and still i can not see anywhere CD/DVD?

Also on bios there is no option there at all , i.e advance features etc. All i can see on bios is as what i have placed on the 1st thread.

With ref to opening , i would have but because this is a laptop , i dont know what i am doing.

What else can i do. thank you
