Hello, download your chipset for your make and model of PC,or for your mainboard.

Then this chipset contains USB drivers, use device manager to install them from the downloaded folder.Install USB drivers while hard drive etc is connected?Do this for every item listed in USB drop down box.

Have you tried rebooting while hard drive and printer are plugged in and powered on?

Have you tried to reinstall printer?

The motherboard is an Asrock K7S8X.

When I try to update the drivers using the cd that came with the motherboard, it tells me I am all up to date. When I request just USB drivers, I get a message saying that they come with Windows XP SP2.

When I look online to download drivers, all I can find is a BIOS download.

I have tried reinstalling the printer, but it wants me to connect it part way through, but as it is not recognised, the installation cannot complete.

I have rebooted with my devices connected, but it makes no difference.

Hi there,

Do you have any yellow exclamation marks in here?

Right click "My Computer" > Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager

Here download ASRock Motherboard - Download

Download your chipset from the list and use device manager to update drivers to make sure they are installed for all USB devices listed in device manager.

Hope this helps?

Hengis

No there are no yellow marks in device manager. All it says is Unknown Device.

Jelly Bean
I downloaded the USB drivers from the link you gave me, but the files here appear to be the same as on the disc. A text file advises that the drivers are included within Windows XP SP2. When I try to install the drivers via device manager, I click on the files where I want it to get the drivers from, but then the OK button greys out. The only file that doesn't is for Win2K, so I tried that. It didn't work. Am I doing something wrong?
