Ahhh it could of been wrong drives for the PCI card,as vista is new not all hardware comes with the right drives yet for vista.However going to the cards manufacturers web site and downloading the correct drives for the card for a vista install.I there for conclude wrong drives and honestly its usaly install card first then software.I have done it this way many times.I build computers/upgrade/etc.

Wrong drivers or bad drivers can cause trouble with a computer.When buying any new hardware check first to see if it comes with Vista drives software,if it doesnt then either download from the manufactures web site,dont buy that hardware,always check that there are vista drives available for that hardware.
