Red face [Unresolved]USB ports not running at correct speed, how do i check ?

hi all, i have a large number of gadgets that are USB 2 compatible, i also have 4 USB 2 sockets on my Acer Lap Top.

Often when i plug in some of my USB 2 gadgets i get a little window pop up that tells me this device can go faster if plugged into a USB 2 socket etc.

I look in control panel/system/hardware/device manager and i have a section "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" i open this up and i have:-
4 entries "USB Root Hub" below these i have
3 entries "Via Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller" below which i have
1 entry "Via USB Enhanced Host Controller"

they all say they are working OK, but i am wondering if i maybe have only one USB socket that is running at the correct speed.

So my question is is there is a bit of software that can measue the speed of data transfer of USB sockets ???.

this forum was very helpful to me recently by putting me onto some software that measured the speed of Hard Disc Drives (IDE, SATA and USB) thanks again for that, so can i discover the speed of my USB ports ?.

Try to plug your device in each of the ports. It looks like only 1 is USB2.0.

You may need to install the drive update 2.0.

Go to device manager.
right click on each USB and click update driver
check the box intsall from a peciffic location
click next
unceck box floopy/cd.
check box include this location and type in the box
C:\WINDOWS\system32
click next do this for each USB drive in turn,

or try Microsoft update for the 2.0 update or your manufacturers web site.
