Default USB mouse doesnt respond on startup

hi, ive been having a problem with my mouse for a while now. Ocassionally, when i boot my computer, my mouse, doesnt glow, and doesnt respond. I have to unplug then plug it back in to get it to work, and sometimes, if that doesnt work, i have to switch it over with another USB port. What could this be?
I have windows xp 64bit but this has been happening with my 32bit system as well.
Its a razer diamondback mouse. I have installed the drivers direct from, windows update.
The drivers on the disc that came with my mouse, doesnt helpo solve the problem either.
Please help!

If it happens on both machines I would say it is failing on you, time to replace it

You said

>have windows xp 64bit but this has been happening with my 32bit system as well.

Where did you buy it ?
Should be a 2 year warranty-- if you bought it from an "authorized dealer"-- or direct from Razer

They aslo have their own knowledge-base-- sometimes Windows update is not the best place to get specialized hardware drivers.
