Default Kingston USB 2.0 data travler.

Hi, i have a usb thumbdrive which recently went nuts on me. Sometime my computer detects it on my computer while at other times it does not. I am using Win XP SP2 with usb 2.0 drivers updated, thus when i saw the error message popped up i was puzzled. Searching for all methods - only 1 stood up, which was to reboot my computer with my thumbdrive plugged in. To detect it through this method proved a bit of a hassle, thus i would like to know if there are alternatives to solve this problem?

first, if you can get it to detect in My computer, format it, using the FAT Filesystem, then now, go into device manager, navigate to it, right click, and hit "update driver" and see what happens

I would just like to throw this in there as a little insight. try the drive on another comp. At the moment i am in the middle of troublshooting 5 computers for maryville college with the same problem. i have replaced motherboards, powersupplys, frontpanel usb's and cables and still cant get it to bring a drive up. im waiting on permission to wipe them and see if that helps, but if the drive works on another comp, your probably in the same boat i am.
