Oh the resolution was I was using the wrong drivers so I searched around and got the right ones, but this is strange as I am using different ones on my desktop and they still work..... Oh well.

I also have yet another insignificant but extremely annoying problem. The thing is, when I go onto messenger to sign in I have to type in the @ sign but when I try it comes up with the " sign. This is EXTREMELY annoying as I cannot log on to Msn.

You need to go into Control Panel > Language settings and make sure that EVERY setting is set to your local language (United Kingdom).
