Hello josephvital, welcome to PCHF.

Does your wireless network appear in My Computer, Control Panel, Network Connections?

Also, depending on what onboard wireless you have, it will appear red until your actually connected to your router. It's not quite as simple as installing a wireless driver and off you go, especially if there is security on the router. If that is the case there will be some configuration we need to do before you can connect wirelessly.

There is normally a wireless switch at the front or side of the laptop which should turn it on/off?

The only other place you could check Jose is to see if the option is available in your BIOS (Normally F2, F10 or [DEL] when you switch your PC on). Look for your onboard wireless and make sure it's enabled.

If the device is enabled and on, but still doesn't appear in Device Manager, then this would be a hardware issue. Your only option in this case is to either send the laptop for repair, or purchase a seperate wireless adaptor.
