Default pointer graphic getting stuck?

ok i have a Logitech Click! optical mouse (wired). i've had it for a few years or so and it's always worked perfectly but lately i've had some problems with it.

every now and then the pointer will get stuck but i can still move and click things. it seems like the pointer graphic is getting stuck but the mouse still works. it's pretty annoying and i can't seem to fix it.

any suggestions?

Hello Auzorann and welcome to PCHF.Do you perhaps have VLC media player installed and running when you have this problem?

i do have VLC player installed but this happens whether VLC is running or not. just now it happened right after starting my PC.

could it be a hard drive issue? i've noticed some loading problems lately. even with a fresh XP install.
