Ok, use this utility: http://staff.taylor.k12.in.us/hardwa...xmarkClean.zip to remove all Lexmark drivers from your PC. Remove the USB cable to the printer - reboot and re-insert the USB cable. Hopefully the printer will be detected and you can go ahead and install the latest driver.

could of been windows assigning its own driver to the printer because then you would have to uninstall windows driver before installing the lexmark's driver otherwise it will not reconize it.
