Agh, i'm going crazy now!.
I got my Canon MP510 printer today to replace my lexmark 640, but ive got some serious issues installing the thing.
First off, before wiring the entire printer up i decided to go to the canon website and download all the latest drivers/software for it (vista 64bit compatible) firstly i install the drivers, when prompted to plug the printer it i do so (and turn it on) and it detects a device but cannot find the drivers, even if i direct it to the canon program files folder.
So then i installed the latest software, did nothing (as i expected)....so then i completely removed all the drivers/software and installed from the disc supplied with the printer itself.
Still no joy. a device is detected (which Vista reffers to as a MP510) even when Vista asks me to "insert the Disc that came with the mp510" i do so and it STILL DOESN'T DETECT ANY DRIVERS!!.
Ive also tried plugging the printer into each usb port and installing it. for some reason some devices have an issue with certain ports from what ive heard.
After doing all this now IE doesn't work, as soon as i try and launch the browser it just gives me a window saying "IE has stopped working" with the standard options of: "Check online for a solution/close the program" even after a restart i get this..... luckily i had Firefox installed which i'm using right now.
Oh. and also a new drive has appeared in my computer, just titled "removable disk, F:"
Great start Canon. perhaps i'd be better off with Lexmark....
Can anyone help me?. i'm really starting to lose my patience with this thing.
Thanks

.
