Default Laptop Joystick Mouse: How To Enable It?

I got a deal on a Toshiba satellite, works well with an external USB mouse, but the joystick mouse doesn't work. I've looked through the device manager, mouse options, and bios, and no settings I've fiddled with have enabled the joystick. The clicker buttons don't respond either, which is what convinces me that it is a simple software setting, rather than a broken joystick. I'm running XP. There's not enough RAM to try a Linux LiveCD, otherwise I would.

Erm...I dunno...it's built into the keyboard.
Not a gaming joystick.
Am I using the wrong name for it? Little eraser-shaped thinger in the middle of the keyboard, used for moving the cursor...

Hello GmTyrant,

You will need the software drivers for the pointer and touch pad. Toshiba should have all that you need for the laptop. If you need help finding it just let us know the model...

Sounds good! The laptop is older, and that might cause trouble. It's a Toshiba Satellite, but I'm quite sure there's more to the name than that, it's just not printed on the case anywhere. Thank you though, I'll hunt around for some drivers and post back!

Hi gmtyrant, The model number is usually located on the bottom of the laptop near the serial number. Once we workout what model it is the driver will be easy to find if you still can't find it this program may tell us what the model is Belarc Advisor - Free Personal PC Audit
