Does your laptop have an option in BIOS to boot from a removable device? I would try using a USB external cd/dvd player to install an OS if it does. I haven't had much experience with port replicators, but if it requires drivers, then it probably won't work before you have an OS installed.

As Wadd said you may be able to use a USB external disk drive but if your laptop doesn't support USB boot you could always get a DOS boot floppy with usb drivers for the CDROM and load it that way.
