Default [Answered] Laser copier back door problem...

Hello

I have a Brother DCP 7010 Laser copier/printer/scanner. Unfortunately it's suddenly presenting me with the message "the back door is open" and consequently it won't do it's job! The problem of course is that the back door is shut and there's nothing that i can see that has broken off. So can anyone suggest what might be causing this??

Thanks very much,

BestbyMoonlight

Hello bestbymoonlight,

There is normally a microswitch at the back of the printer, that will detect if the door is open or closed. Either the door is no longer making contact with the switch, or the switch is faulty. You may be able to solder the two pins of the microswitch together, but taking the printer apart to get to the back of the microswitch is not going to be easy from what I remember, it's a nightmare. Check your warranty documentation before hand.
