Default USB help needed

Hi Guys, I have a problem with my USB's. I have a number of these, some built into the motherboard, some installed on motherboard headers and some on a PCI expansion card.

Accordind to the manuals etc. all are rated as USB2 but when ever I plug anything into them (mp3 player, Memory stick, mobile hard drive, ipod etc), I told that the "device would perform faster if connected to a USB2 port"

I have tried unistalling/reinstalling the drivers on all the USB's but I still get the message.

I have a nuber of things pluged in permanently(2 printers, Webcam, Scanner, Wireless keyboard/mouse).

Anyone got any idea's how get these devices working at full speed.

Howmany ports do you have in total, and how many of these devices are draining power from the PC?

ok, the pc has a total of 10 usb2 ports 5 of these are drawing power, as follows:

4 built in to the M/board - 2 in use (Keyboard & printer)
1 on a M/board header - in use (printer)
5 on a PCI card - 2 in use (webcam & Scanner)

I also leave 2 leads (for camera and an extention to the front of pc) connected but not in permanent use.

Have I got too many things connected?

When you say get a "USB hub" I take it that you mean a powered one. is that correct and if so can you recommend one.

that doesnt sound like a power problem. I can understand the motherboard USB not being v1.1, but saying its v2.0, but a PCI card doing that? that is very odd. What brand, and model, mobo do you have? Also, try updating your USB drivers. They might be outdated.
