Default Touchpad for laptop

Hi.
I have a Compaq Persario notebook. The other night my cursor(pointer) froze right in the middle of my screen and now it will not move at all, so I cannot use my laptop at all. Is there someone here that knows what the solution to that would be? If so, please help me!!!!!!!

Thanks,
Mary J

Welcome to PC Help Forum

If you start your laptop in safe-mode and then go into device manager and right click on the mousepad - then select uninstall. Re-boot and see if it is properly re-installed again.

If the mousepad freezes and he doesn't have a USB mouse, that won't be a very easy thing to accomplish.
