Peripherals - please help this newbie!!! posted in the Hardware forums; these things did not work and i plugged in my ipod and it did not light up to charge i also plugged myipod in at work and it lit up ...

these things did not work and i plugged in my ipod and it did not light up to charge i also plugged myipod in at work and it lit up to charge so it seems as if there is no power in the usb ports on my pc is this something that happens..and do i have to buy something to fix this problem???

Round plug is right. Sorry for the delay as I hadn't read far enough. When you tried the PS2, system was shut off? And then re-started? It does matter with those, unlike USB where you can hot plug it.Ghost has a point on that as well... opening the case and physically checking the hardwires can make a diff. SOmetimes in moving a system, things get jiggled loose. Had this happen with the neighbours power supply.

hi all,

Fufu can i ask, where exactly are the usb ports on your pc in relation to the power cable?

Just wondering if you may be using ports on the front or top of your pc as these would be wired to your motherboard and could potentially come loose and cause these problems.
If the connecters are just underneath the power cable, these are part of your motherboard and if they are not working and you havent changed anything in BIOS(if you know what that means) then its a flash new USB card for you im afraid
