It seems like one problem is fixed and another arises. I recently bought a removable HD rack, USB hub, pcmcia card reader, & zip drive for my desktop PC and they work great except for the zip drive & pcmcia card reader which windows won't find. The zip drive is external, 100mb, connected via the parallel port & the pcmcia card reader is internal, connected via a PCI card at the back, both appear to be installed correctly & I installed the driver that came with the zip drive but neither appear in "My Computer". I even inserted a zip disk into the zip drive & a pcmcia card into the card reader and nothing happened. Help? I've never connected anything by the parallel port so I don't know the protocol for doing it...I just connected the cable to both ends.

Hi Zac, did you load a driver for the zip drive? and also in the bios you can usually set the parallel port to a few different modes which might help with the zip drive

I installed the driver that came on the CD which loaded Iomegaware on my PC and the one you linked, still the drive does not register with Windows.

did you try changing the parallel port mode in your bios? I've seen this cause detection problems before with zip drives

E.g your port could be set to SPP which is not bidirectional siginal which basicly means the computer only talk out the port and won't listen.

Yes I checked it in Bios, I changed both the serial & parallel ports to Enabled instead of auto, still no detection. I also tried the "Add New Hardware" wizard in the Control Panel to no avail.

Everytime I've had trouble with a zip drive I've changed it to ecp/epp or ecp or epp or bidiretional. Duz it have that option Not sure if auto would work or what mode it is actually in.
