Default Screen wont answer

Hello all first of all im kind of a rookie when it comes to computer hardwares and stuffs :P

Well this is the thing, yesterday i picked up my friends old comp or not that old maybe 1 year and now when i wanted to use it i had to plug in all cables graphic card etc...

So now when i start it a lamp is flashing on the motherboard ( i think it should:P) all fans are spinning incl the graphic card fan, however my screen does not get any response! first of all do i need to have a my harddrive plugged in? can i see bios without it? but even with it plugged in i dont get any response!

Hi Notsogood

Welcome to PC Help Forums

Well for a start the CPU Heatsink Fan is not secure as the clip on the top right corner is not attached.
There looks to be at least 2 floppy disk type power connectors adrift.
Having a PSU so close to the CPU is madness in it's self.
Can you provide a picture looking further up as I'd like to see where the IDE cables terminate.

If anyone sees something I have missed please post it.

On the back of the PC, how many monitor ports are there? Make sure you put the cable into the graphics card monitor port.
