Question [Answered] Ability to Upgrade to USB 2.0?

I have a ASUSTeK Computer INC. P4B-LX motherboard with empty PCI slots. I currently only have USB 1.1 slots on my computer and would like to upgrade to USB 2.0. If I buy a USB 2.0 PCI card to upgrade, and would like to know if I can simply install the new PCI card into my motherboard and have it work. Can anyone tell me if it is even possible and what I would have to do special, if any?

Hey bjackerman!

Sounds to me like no problem

What OS are you running? If XP, you can go for it.

Yeah, I am running XP. So if shouldn't matter if the motherboard is old, I still should be able to get USB 2.0 speed?

I have a Stratatech pci usb 2 card in one of my old machines, it works fine. The installation software/drivers should come with whichever one you get. You shouldnt have any trouble.

Same i have used an PCI Expansion Card USB 2.0 in one of my old machines and it worked brilliantly. However you will only be able to use the port ons the card as USB 2.0 i think.

That's true upgrader, the USB on your mainboard will stay 1.1

I'll mark this thread Answered.
