Default Keyboard problems on boot.

Hello everyone. I have a PC with an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe, a PS/2 Keyboard, and a Nostromo n52 Speedpad, running Windows XP SP1. When I reboot my machine with everything hooked up, the keyboard doesn't work, but the speedpad does, and is my only keyboard device. I have to reboot with it unplugged to get my keyboard to work. Unplugging and replugging the speedpad every reboot is difficult and annoying. Is there any way to fix this?

Hi qman, and welcome to the forum.

Have you tried updating your BIOS? It may have a problem with seeing "two keyboards" as that is no doubt what it sees the speedpad as.

Failing that invest in a USB keyboard. I dont know if its just me but in every pc ive had at some point the PS2 connectors on the pc have f****d up eventually. Now i just dont obther unless they are explicity needed. I.E installing windows xp on a sata drive.

Failing that you can now buy PS2>USB converrs if you want to keep your current keybaord.

It all depends on how you plug them in, or how often you plug/unplug them.
They last forever if they're plugged in once and never moved.

And I've installed windows xp on a sata drive with an usb keyboard...i have a g15 with a 150gb raptor drive...

Might be my motherboard that allows that however.
