Exclamation Network Card Problem!

First of all, I would just like to apologize if I've posted this in the wrong forum, (I tried, I just didn't see any other one that seemed to fit what I need help with!) and also to say hey, because I'm new here! =)

Okay, basically, my computer is pretty old, and it never came with a network card. I'm running XP Home SP2 and because I wanted to set up a wireless network at home so I could browse the net wirelessly on my laptop. I went out and bought a wireless router, a wireless card for my laptop (which is all working just fine although the router is a little hard to configure!) and then realized that I couldn't all make it work together without a network card for my desktop.

Being brave, I installed it myself this morning, and it all went in fine, until I booted the computer back up and when Windows went to detect and install the hardware, it said that it had not undergone Windows Logo Testing or something similar to that, and it would not continue with the install. Now give me some credit here, I actually have looked around for answers on the net, but every screenshot I've studied had just shown a "continue anyway" or "cancel" button.. I wasn't even given the option to "continue anyway", all I could do was hit OK. I guess what I'm trying to ask (sorry for the long-winded explanation!) is if there is any way I can get around this and install the network card anyway?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Hya Downpourss , welcome to PCHF.

Did you let windows try to find and install the driver, or did you try to install a driver that came with the card?

If one, then try the other. And can you also post the brand and model of the card?

The brand is Retail Plus, and it was only 12.99$ CDN, so I knew I was probably not getting much, but the guy who sold it to me at Circuit City assured me that it should work fine and that I didn't need to bother getting a more expensive one. I tried exiting the add hardware wizard and installing from the setup file off the floppy disk, where it tried to install the drivers that way, but half way through I got the same warning message and it stopped the transfer. I then searched for the manufacturers site online so that I could download drivers from there, but I couldn't even find a site for them. So I guess my best bet is just to return the card and buy a brand name one, such as D-Link.. My wireless router and card are both LinkSys but I'm sure a D-Link card will work. Anyway, thanks very much for your help and sorry for the late reply!

I did manage to find there site after some hunting.. but they list nothing about network cards at all:

They're not much help I'm afraid..
