Default [Answered] Serial to paralell port converter/ splitter???????

Hi,

This is my dilemma.
We have a PC/ cash machine (runnung Win XP Home) that has a Point of Sales printer connected to the LPT1 port. The PC also has a serial port. We need to duplicate the printer data that is outputted to the LPT1 (paralell port) to also send the data to the serial port in ASCII code format.

Thnking about 2 ways of doing it, but don't know if it would work.

1. Have a virtual splitter installed on the computer to duplicate the data on both ports.

2. Use a serial y-cable to split the signal, and then use a seial > paralell converter on one of the ends.

Would that work, it the same kind of data?

Help!!!!

Fred

Hi Fred, welcome to the PC Help Forum.

I apologise for the lack of response you have(n't) received regarding this question.

Unfortunately due to software limitations, i don't believe this is possible and I have personally never seen anything that does this automatically for you.

If you read this post and have any further information/questions/possible solutions - please let me know as i am curious myself.

Marked as Answered.
