Default [Answered] USB Help ASAP !!

Hi, i recently bought a usb cable 2.0 for a psp and when connected the problem solver box comes up instead of found hardware and says "hardware malfunction" so i read on a forum that i should try disabling some of the USB ports within device manager.

i did this now all of my usb ports and alternate mouse and keyboard ports are disabled i cant do a thing. not even type or move my mouse.

i rang a helpline which the guy gave me 2 things which could of done this.

one he said that one option was that i burnt out the USB ports, which i doubt cause it recognised the hardware a little before i changed the settings and the other alternate was to buy a new motherboard which i desperatly wanna avoid.. sooo

when i turn on the pc everything powers on then just before it gets to the windows settings it removes all abilty to use the USB ports mice keyboard asdl power printer everything... but keyboard use is available during safe mode selection and BIOS settings.. i can move the mouse like a 1Cm each time before it switches to the desktop.. also i cant move mouse or keyboard within safe mode i also tried using the last good setting part which had no effect

also without using the mouse and keyboard i have no idea how to switch the USB ports back on..

Help!!

Hi there & welcome to PCHF

First things first, do you have access to a PS/2 mouse and keyboard and has your motherboard got "legacy" slots for these ? You know, a green circular one for the mouse and a circular purple one for the keyboard. If we can at least get some peripheral functionality then we will be in better shape than currently.
