Welcome to the forum Peter

A factory restore will return your PC/Laptop to its original configuration (i.e: as it was when you bought it). This is usually carried out by means of a cd given to you by the manufacturer at the time of purchase.

What if you don't have the CD.....I upgraded to XP through a school program and only got 1 CD with the deal....no quick restore or factory restore CD. How would I get it back to its original status? How can I just wipe the drives and install the XP OS again?
