A USB thumb/flash drive will
not show up in the BIOS.
And most of the older drives are designed to use the letters E or F. Newer ones are designed to take the first availbe drive letter after C:
The most likely reason that Galveston couldn't find the drive in Explorer or My Computer, is because it wasn't correctly assigned a letter. To check this out, you can goto Start -> Run ->
diskmgnt.msc and it will show you all the drives you have...this utility also allows you to change drive letters (execpt C

to whatever you like.
