Default [Answered] Can "Always Open With" be undone?

Recently I was having a problem getting one of my shortcuts to work. For some reason when I tried to use it the "open with" box came up. So without paying attention I checked the "Always Open With" box and now all my shortcuts open the same program, is there anyway to undo this?

Default Can "Always Open With" be undone?

Hi HaroldP - you will be pleased to know that yes, there is a way to fix this!

Hold down the Shift key while right-clicking on a file , click on Open With... from the menu. Select the program you want to open files of this type with and enable Always use this program to open this type of file.

Default Error Message

When I tried to do this with shortcuts for Windows Media Player and Quicktime, I received the error meesage that .exe files are not file types that these programs can play. I did what you said for explorer, but it's not launching the program. Am I doing something wrong? I went to open with and selected ieexplore.

Sorry, I don't know what you are trying to achieve.

Please could you just say what files you are trying to associate with which programs. That will help to find a solution for you.

Default Files Types

The Files are the .exe files to launch programs.

For example, wmplayer.exe, QuickTimePLayer.exe, realplay.exe (Winows Explorer (explroer.exe), Internet Explorer

The QuickTime and Media Player will launch only if I do as you suggested earlier and hold Shift and right click. Other than that nothing happens when I try to use my short cuts.

So what you're saying is that the shortcuts to the programs you have listed are not working?

If this is the case have you right clicked on the shortcuts and checked that they are "pointing" to the right file/folder etc?

I also found this at filext.com.

http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cache...s+broken&hl=en

If it's not your shortcuts then this might help. Be sure to backup before attempting anything from that link
