Hello and welcome to PC Help Forum.

A little more information would help please.

Are you sure you have got rid of the virus?

Did you mess with registry?

Have you gone into BIOS/Setup and set first boot device to CD/DVD rom put in operating disk and tried either a recovery or repair install?

To run recovery set first boot in BIOS put in OS disk save and exit F10.Press any key to boot from CD/DVD.Press R for recovery.

Or to do a repair set first boot as above and put in disk, bypass the R just agree to license agreement then press R for repair when prompted.

I have xp professional and it is provided by my wife's company and has a firewall. Right now I keep getting virus warnings and webpages from Privacy Protector and other sites tryig to sell me registry fixes. When I download free scans, cannot run them.
