Default Microsoft wireless mouse and keyboard

Hi Everyone,
Being of the older generation and a bit of a numpty, I am hoping you can help me with this minor but annoying problem. They both work fine but when I close my laptop down and then reboot, the mouse pointer and keyboard revert back to default and I have to reset to my preferred cursor and keyboard settings.I have even set my preferred cursor to default and when I open the mouse control panel and click on pointer, my cursor is set to default. I then just click on 'ok' and my cursor activates. I have a HP DV6700 Pavilion running Vista home premium. Is this a fault with Vista or with the laptop or with me??
Any help gratefully received !!
Di Stefano

Open your Device Manager
Click on View
Click on Show hidden devices
In front of each category, is there a + in a box?
If the category has a - in a box, then the device listed needs to be deleted and then you need to reboot so Windows can reinstall the device correctly.

Hi,
All the devices listed have a + in front of them and in the mice and pointers the keyboard both the Intellipoint wireless mouse and keyboard are working correctly when I go into properties. Other suggestions ? I have seen this same problem on other forums but not seen a solution. Thanks

Good. Now:

Open your Control Panel
Click on Keyboard...check for any references to your wireless keyboard.

In the Control Panel, click on Mouse...check for any references to your wireless mouse.

Since I do not have wireless units, I can not tell you exactly what to look for.
